Don't know about freshwater but you'll be in saltwater paradise.

Have to travel inland to the "Big O"

Will depend where you want to start fishing there - North or South End.
Excellant fishing in and around the Big O...............

Don't know where the canal system starts, but a lot of cyclids and sunshine bass along with native species are caught in the canal system. I know there is a canal somewhere after I75 turns east toward Miami.

Rim canal is usually always pretty good for spec's - don't fish it myself as we
have in past made it off limits at tournament time

Sorry Mr 813. The rim canal around Okeechobee is a great place to fish, but I was talking about the canal system in south Florida. The roadside canals that seem to go everywhere down there.

Agree with you on various canals around FT Myers and as to whats in them,
I had failed to add rim canal to my thoughts of the "Big O".

Don't forget the rivers running into Charlotte Harbor. Good fishing when there is enough water in them. Couple kayak rental places in the area too.
