    Default Garcia Lake

I've never hit crappie quite like I did on Garcia on Saturday. Since trolling for crappies is usually fairly slow, I troll with 3 or 4 poles, using 1/32 oz leadheads and 1" twister tails (two on each pole.) I started out across the "pit" area that is 12 feet deep with three poles in the water. The pole in my hand had a hit and I had a crappie on. Then the pole by my right foot had a hit and I used my foot to hold that pole with crappie #2 on. Then the pole by my left foot had a hit and I used my left foot to hold it with crappie #3 on. I got all of them to the boat. In a little less than 2 hours, I was pulling my boat with the limit of 25 crappies in the livewell. None were huge like some I have caught on Garcia, but it was sure quick action. I'll try to attach a picture of the catch.

I would sure like to get a bunch and get my 25 limit like that but it usually does not happen. I usually get anywhere between two to eight large Specks when I get into them (mostly 10 inch or better) so I guess I could look on it like the larger sized ones make up for a whole lot of small ones . Great job :D.

    Frank,

Check the FWC site or go to this link (Northeast Region):

    Lake Garcia

I think they list Lake Istokpoga in the Southwest Region because they don't have a Southeast or South Central Region even though they ought to. Complain to FWC .

Default Garcia lake is - -

Garcia lake is just west of Vero Beach, about 8 miles past I-95 and then 1 mile north on 512 toward Fellsmere. It is part of the Blue Cypress preserve, but not as far west as Blue Cypress lake. It is also called Ansin-Garcia in some places where you see it.

Looking good! Man I have to admit I am jealous as hell! I have not put a crappie in the boat for a while now...I have to figure this summer pattern out! Nice bunch of fish there.
