boat gas tank question
Just posted on th GA off topid board thought i would put here to what would yall think would be the best way to clean out a 6 1/2 gallon tank without buying a new one thanks alot p.s no off topic board so hope not to offend anyone

In the boat I just got thru working on, I had a 21 gallon tank that needed cleaning..I just dumped the old gas out and put a couple of gallons of diesel fuel in it and sloshed it around for a while...Let it sut for a couple of days then sloshed it around some more and emptied it...Then I put some gas in it and repeated the sloshing bit...Seemed to work good...The seafoam idea is good to try also...If you don't get it as clean as you want, I have a 6 gallon metal tank that is in good shape that I'll let you have.

If it is metal, replace. It seems that it has not been used for a long time. Cheaper in time and money to replace. I always use sea foam once a month. My mercury is a 1994 and still runs good. (crossed fingers)

I used the washer trick it worked so far like a charm the wife was not happy with the panty hose i used for a filter but maybe she gets happy when we go fishing once again thanks for the help
