I too am curious about that lake. Seems like such a big lake to tackle without help.
Been down here for a year and have never heard of anyone catchin any specks on Lake George. Looked at a map of Lake George in Academy the other day and there was a section of all the fish in the lake and the best ways to catch em. What was funny was that they didnt have crappie listed. Looked at maps of other lakes and crappie were on them. Anyone ever fish it? its a big lake seems like there would be a report or two everyonce in awhile but there never is

"If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading."
You are correct not much talk about the specs on it. They have to be there as they are in the river both sides of it. I would imagine the locals are tight lipped and the guides are focused on bass and stripers.
we used to go and camp near astor fl ( back in the 80's ) and fished up toward lake george and in the very edge of it . we slayed em back then but the boat traffic got so bad my stepdad refused to go and have not gone back . i could tell you a good story about crappie fishin and chippin ice in crescent lake lol
Check this site out. They mention specks a few times but bass is the main target.

THE BEST TIME TO FISH IS WHEN IT'S RAINING AND WHEN IT'S NOT RAINING
How did you do last weekend on Talquin? I didn't see any report.
