I fish marinas a lot in the summer. They are pretty serious about that no wake policy. I have had waves rolled into the boat when fishing the main river. Involuntary carpet cleaning.
This past Thursday my wife and I were fishing some shallows and this guy in a ski boat comes by full throttle not 30 yards away and makes a big loop and goes back the way he came. Boy was I mad. Tossed my little Tracker all over the place. Mile of open water and he buzzes me. I slow down every time I pass someone fishing, spider rigging, trolling or anchored up. A little courtesy used to mean something in this world.....

I’ve had confrontations in past years. One that sticks out was a couple of college ski team guys that went out of their way to throw a wake from the boat and the skier tried to spray me. I donated a devils horse to a ski vest that day.

Yesterday at Alum Creek here in Ohio I had an encounter with a wake boat. The woman driving was oblivious to her surroundings and cut across my bow within 20 yards with a man riding the wake. I stopped well in advance as I had seen her coming and got started and turned into the wake in the nick of time. It still raised the bow and slammed it back down. 2 seconds later a large cabin cruiser flew by from behind and rocked me all over the place, at least he waved...
I had hidden in coves all day in no wake areas and there are still folks who don’t understand no wake policy/ zones. Very frustrating.....

Those big cruisers roll a big wake also. The wife wanted to ride earlier this year. We were out on the river mid day and met a cruiser coming at us. I underestimated the wake he was throwing and hit it a little too hard. She was taking a drink from a bottle of water. She turned that thing into a portable face wash station. She looked at me with water dripping off her face. All I could say is that scoundrel in that cruiser sure got you.

I have seen them pull skiers through areas full of submerged stumps. I don't know if the gators will bother them.

When I lived on the Texas coast near Galveston my cousin and I would do a lot of wade fishing. Several times we had people on jet skis run through the area we were trying to fish. Our solution was to tie on a large sinker with the biggest treble hook we had and then try to cast it into their path. Never caught one but would try again.
FISH ON
Be mighty painful to be caught by such a thing
