i snagged a fishing pole once
Caught this while fishing for bream with fly rod and top water bug.
It is a red bellied water snake. It was about 30 inches long.
Had to hit him on the head several times inorder to get to the hook to remove it.

Had a Canada Goose chase down a Zara Spook once and before i could jerk it away i had hooked the damn thing in the foot. Now that was a fight.Luckly it never tried to fly off just swam and i was able too get it to the boat and unhook it while gettting hissed at and flogged. My dad still laughs about that one.But he sure wasn't going to help with the unhooking. And i wasn't going to give up my 10.00 spook.
lol. I'm sure that was a site to see.Originally Posted by hogster
The coolest thing I ever hooked up with, other than a fish or my wife, is somebody's rod and reel when I was fishing on Lake erie for Walleye. I mean it was an old yellow fiberglass set up, something that Jerry McKinnis would have used in the day. From the zebra muscles and goop/muck/crap on it one would estimate it had been there at least 10 years.
This was in 1995.

I had a racoon running down the bank chasing my bass jig....everytime my jig hit the water he'd run after it. He went ahead of me and climbed out over the water on a tree limb. I shouldn't have but thought it would be funny to see how close I could cast at him. I pitched the jig towards him and heard a thud. I'd hit him square in the chest.(he was standing up on his back legs) He held the onto that jig with a death grip. We played tug a war for a few seconds me pulling and him pulling back......he finally let go. It was hysterical!

i would have to say the best thing for me was catching my fatherinlaws jiging rod we where at a icefishing gathering and we step away to talk to some of the others and as we walked back to the spot we where fishing and i said to my fatherinlaw where did your jiggin rod go he said must have went down the hole at the end of the day i was packing up my tipups and pulled the jigging rod with the catfish still on
A friend of mine hooked this snapper while using a crank bait of all things a couple of years ago. Somehow we were able to remove hook without losing our fingers. The other two pictures aren't of something strange that was caught but rather something that I caught in an unusual location. The golf course. I never leave home without the pocket fisherman.
