Wasp Nest, Out on A limb!!

My old fishing buddy, called me one night and asked me to go to the gator holes up the Savannah river with him but I could not go. boy am I glad that is one trip I did not go with him. he was a little bit crazy some time in the things he did. he asked another friend to go with him. you had to leave the river and go out in the swamp to get to the gator holes and if you did not know your way around you could get lost in the swamp real easy. the two of them were fishing and my fishing buddy over cast at a stump and hooked a limb growing out of the stump, he snatched back to free the line with out seeing the wasp nest on the limb. a wasp stung him and it made him mad, he said I am going to knock that sucker in the water, his friend in the boat with him begin to beg, please put me on the bank before you do ! he said no, we are in this thing together! his friend grabbed a rain coat and lay down in the bottom of the boat and covered up with rain coat the best he could. my old buddy paddled up to the stump and took the paddle and took a swing and missed the wasp nest and hit the limb instead! he was covered with wasp! the rain coat began to jump up and down !! when the two of them came by my house my old fishing buddy could not see, his face was swollen so bad both eyes were swollen shut! his used to be friend had one eye swollen shut! man that is one fishing trip I am happy I missed!!!

some people are more stupid than others, sounds like your ole fishing buddy is high on the "more stupid" list.

He was a joy to fish with , we spent years fishing together. there are not too many places around here we have not been in. I miss him. that is one trip I am glad I missed. Jimmy

That was a crazy thing for sure. I'm more afraid of wasp's than snakes. Not that I want either in my boat.

Yep that's one trip I would not want to have taken for sure. Bet the two of them looked like road kill waiting to get ran over again.

I know this is going to sound like a tale, but it is true. I swear. I saw a nice, new looking crank bait in a tree. Wondered why someone would leave it. Then noticed a small wasp next by it, but I was determined to get that bait. I backed off and decided to shoot at the nest ,with a 22 rifle, as it only had a couple wasp's that I could see. Sure enough I knocked it out the tree and waited a couple minutes. I still have that bait and that was at least 20 years ago.

Hate to get wasp stung, will ruin a fishing day. your friend had a very memorable experience.
