That is a good story. Nothing like having a hand in taking game.
I had a great day floating the Toccoa River near McCaysville with my friend and fellow guide, Joe DiPietro, recently. It was the culmination of a story I've been planning for months. I shot pheasants in South Dakota, gave a bunch of tails and feathers to Joe, who tied of some pheasant tail flies and nymphs. Then I got to go catch trout with the feathers of pheasants I killed in South Dakota -- pheasants coming full circle. A great time was had by all, and I think a fun story, with video. I have fished all but 4 years of my life, and that's cuz Dad didn't take me til I was 4. Second on my list of favorites are flushing birds. I have been lucky enough to have hunted Quail with a 410 as a boy, and reserve pheasants in Kansas. The wild birds are still on my list. The anticipation of the flush and the rush of adrenaline when it takes flight is second to none. A dove field is also a favorite but those that hold tight and explode into the air will always give me pleasure. Good story, thanks for sharing it with us and bringing back those memories.
