Last year I was crappie fishing the beautiful cypress lined Lake Conway in central Arkansas. It was mid spring and the Male crappie had thier tuxedos on and where on beds. I was single poling along a bank in a cove dipping a jig and occasionally catching a nice crappie on about every third or fourth tree I came to, The weather was warm, birds were singing, trees were budding, light wind, it was just one of those beautiful days that you treasure.
As Im going down the bank I come to a long lay down tree jutting way out from the bank that I have to go around. As Im working my way around the lay down I notice on the very end of it I see a lone acorn just sitting on the log, I thought "thats kind of a strange place for an acorn" but continue on my way. After hitting a couple of cypress trees right in that same area I caught a big beautiful very fat 2lb female spec just full of eggs. I got off my seat to go to the livewell to put my prize in I see a squirrel shimming down that laydown to get that acorn, bout that time I hear a loud splash and see a HUGE largemouth bass launch over that log and get that squirrel, UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE!!! a moment later I hear another splash and Ill be dad gummed if that bass didn't jump up and put another acorn on that log........
