    Default Crazy fish injury?

Ever seen a fish like this? This is a small catfish with a crazy deformity or injury...he looked like an accordion the way his back was all zig-zaggy. Who knows...maybe he ran into the dam full speed.

I caught a crappie like that. When I fillet it the back bone was all knoted up. May have encountered a boat prop.

I've caught Largemouth from a friends pond that were like that. Not as extreme as that kitty but many odd fish from a stocked pond also leads me to believe a twist in the genetics.

We see a lot of those in Chickamauga Dam Tailwaters. Biologists I've asked about it aren't 100% sure... suggest it could be a vitamin deficiency, or it could be genetic. Since we see quite a few of them in a concentrated area, I suspect the latter.
