Default some times its better left a mystery

so my buddies a bass fisherman and had this great pond to fish that has been around for around 113 years . when he showed it to me i asked him if it had crappie in it and he told me "its loaded with them if you can catch them i cant ." so i showed him him a few of my ticks and we were off. we fished for a few weeks and all we caught were crappie 13-15 inches long and nothing smaller. about once a week for 5 weeks we hooked into something that gave us a good fight and it always got off . so one day i told him lets come out here at night and see what happens so we did. we got out at his pond around dark and hung lanterns in the standing timber we fished all night and slayed em then around 3 AM my float sank again and i set the hook. i remember telling him i think its mystery fish i fought this thing out for about a minuet and it jumped out of the water right next to our lantern and all i remember seeing was a giant crappie wider than it was long throw the hook we both thought it was about 6 ponds. sadly we cant fish that pond any more. at least we figured out what was most likely getting away from us.
