Size: 76.6 KBi had a new friend, a (retired fish biologist) want to go fishing .he hasn't been out much since retiring for different reasons. I didn't want to hassle with the the speed boats or jet skiers, so asked him if the pier was ok. On the way i asked him if ever been to armstrongs in whitehall (a tackle shop). Any of you who has been there know it's one of a kind. Off we went and once in whitehall we stopped at a little park on the water. There were about a dozen little kids with about four adults fishing off a wall. I asked one guy "what's the occasion"? He says just camping and brought the kids here to fish. I missed my friend and there he was down on the walk helping a little girl, about five, untangle her line and bait the hook. We spent about an hour there just doing that. Moved on to armstrongs and my friend was awe struck that there could be so much stuff in one building. Moved on to the pier. Lots of wind and white caps on the big lake. Second cast he got a sheepshead(maybe two lbs.) being the fishery man that he was he wanted to keep it. I said there's ice in the cooler. After a while i missed him again and there he was netting fish for other people and just visiting. Another young man was beside me(from stanton) just watching, so i said there's a rod try it out. We ended up getting lots of sheepshead and my friend kept a couple to take home. Moral of the story i guess is no matter what," it's a whole lot more than just the fish"

Good story. Sometimes a good day fishing is more about who you're spending time with than anything. Glad you and your friend had a nice day.
