    Default Asian Carp

by the boat loads here in Indiana, the inclosed video is proof. It is only matter of time when they will be everywhere

Read a article about six months ago, that they put up a fence to keep them out of the great lakes.......myself dont think it will work

I see a major fish kill in order to get rid of them. It will have to be cordinated
so as not to have them make a come back.

That is how they got started.
Some asian resturant here in the states had them imported for his pond behind the resturant to raise to feed to his customers. Then there was a major flood and the carp exscaped.

The asian carp are in the Missippi river through out the north eastern USA,

They grow twice and three times as regular fish and they are eating off all the game fish as we know it.

They get upwards of 10-12 lbs in about 2 years, and get even bigger
Here is a video (ONE OF MANY) of guys using bow and arrows to kill them off

Do a google search for asian carp, or invasion of asian carp
It wont be long before they are in Texas, unless the eastern US can figure out how to stop them

#1) Asian Carp taste good and the meat is healthier for you
than most native fish. Large fish do not contain as much
pollution because they are filter feeders.

#2) Obviously very easy to harvest. Just drive around with
a net and keep your head down. What fun is that? But if we
we can create a market for the meat, we should be able to
create commercial harvesting techniques that put their
    numbers down.

#3) They are filter feeders and do not eat gamefish or baitfish.
However, they do destroy native species because they are such
efficient filter feeders. They remove all zooplankton from the
water which starves the baitfish and it moves up the chain
    from there. Not Good!

#4) Don't trust info from that "catastrophemap.com" site.
We can all see that guy is holding a common Grass Carp
and not an Asian Carp. Asian carp are rather weird looking.
Beside being more silver like a tarpon, their eyes are closer
to the bottom of their heads behind the mouth. They almost
look like they swim upside down. You can see it in the last
    jumping photo.

I bet you if McDonald's started using the Asian Carp for its Fish Filet sandwhich, it would really cut down on the population in the Great lakes region.
