I bought this unit a while back and really like it. I looked for a long time, and just could not swing getting a Side Imaging unit at the time. For the money, I think it is one of the best and most versatile units you can get. I'm still learning about it and honing my skills with it, but given the need, I would buy it again.

The one big drawback to this unit are the accessories. If you don't update with the SD card, then you have to purchase a PC connector, and Humminbird seems to be in the dark ages when it comes to those, and they are pricey as heck. The power cable to run it in the house uses 2 9 volt batteries (again an accessory, not included) and doesn't last that long.

I'm impressed with the unit, but not with Humminbird's website, accessories, or software for the PC. They all seem like afterthoughts and as if they were designed in someones basement in China.

I was stubborn on fighting with the updates - none of the computers
I had access to had a card reader/writer and I knew nothing about them,
thought it would be expensive, so I went the whole nine yards with the
    cable, 9 volt batteries, etc.

Then I found out a reader/writer thing that plugs into a usb is less than
$10 at Wally World - download the update on a blank card, go plug it in
the H'bird on the boat and power that dude up - bingo it's done.

as for the cabelas deal, that's what? like a hundred bucks less than it was at the highest
when it was new? Shoot for a unit that Humminbird is already referring to in their '09
catalog as a "legacy model" looks like they could come off more than that - but that's
just tightwad me a talking. And the NVB is not too hot either, '06 version of the maps
and not updateable. I'm just sayin...
