I didn't understand this because my Garmin 178C has a regular power chord that hooks from the wall to PC and I don't see any big differences in the two.
Oh well, I tried.
The Hound
It costs money to get an a/c adapter certified/approved. These things (cords) are a big source for law suits. HB covering their tail.....
