    Default Boat Batt. Issues...HELP

I have a 997SI and have it hooked up to the cranking battery. When I start the motor it shuts down the 997, not enough voltage. My thought is this, I buy another deepcycle batt & run all the electronics to it, let the cranking batt do its only job, and have the 2 trolling batts do their only job. Does anyone have this set up, if not what do you have???

I had this problem when I first got my boat. The cranking battery just didn't have enough reserve. Replaced it with the largest marine battery I could get at Wmrt, and no problems since.

You also might want to check the draw from your starter. If it is pulling a lot of amps, that would be causing your problem. <*)}}}><

Use a dc current clamp, or let the auto store check it for you. Prob easier to tow the boat to the shop rather than pull the starter...

Could also be a weak battery.

Brand new Optima d34m. Going with the d31M and see if that works. How do you charge the batt for the depthfinder, 3 bank charger or relay the cranking batt to the depth batt & let the altinator charge them both?

If the alternator isn't keeping one battery charged, it probably won't be much use trying to charge two batteries. If you aren't charging your cranking battery between trips, there's your problem. The outboard can't keep up unless you make plenty of long runs.
