If you want SI, HB is the only game in town (at present).

As far as normal display, Lowance is best IMHO.

I like Lowrance, probably because I have too much money invested to change. The color units are the way to go. Their GPS has always been spot on everytime, always less than 10'.

I had the Lowrance X510 and 5200 Globalmap. I still have the globalmap nice unit. The x510c was junk in shallow water locking up and freezing all the time. I got rid of it after several software changes through Lowrance. I now run a Vexilar Edge far better graph than Lowrance. I would go with Humminbird in sonar and Lowrance or Garmin in GPS.
Vexilar is great but You pay dearly for it. I did and I`m happy.

No I don`t have any experience with the Humminbirds but I would say now they are as good if not better than Lowrance. My experience with the new Lowrance sonar was awful. I`d stick with Humminbird now days, five years ago I would have gone with Lowrance.

I have a Humminbird 797, and a Lowrance X-20, both are great units. I like the sonar of the Lowrance, when it comes to using my navionics map and the gps the Humminbird is far better and alot more user friendly than the Lowrance.
