    Default Trolling motor question

Hey guys I have a Omc trolling motor and have had to replace the cable about three times it always breaks right at the threads .Am I installing it wrong or are these motors just not tough enought for the abuse it sees?

normally they wear at the point that the go over the roller. they wear and wear and start to fray a little at a time til they break. you can see it happening over time. i think if it is breaking at the threads you may be tightening it to tight? i havent had on in years but i had a few over 25 + years of fishing. never had one break at the threads. then used motorguide for many many years. they are very tough and dependable motors. i am now in my 2nd month of trying out a minnkota. it seems to be pretty good. it is not quite as strong as my old motorguide and i dont know if it will hold up as well yet . but i can assure you if it can hold up to the abuse i put one through then maybe they will be alright. but tightening the omc to tight would be my guess. i hope this helps.
