Walmart Everstart Maxx. Just as good as any other standard battery, way cheaper than anything close to its capacity, good warranty and they can be replaced almost anywhere in the country 24/7/364.

autozone - DURALAST they are the best for the money . no batteries are perfect and you can get a bad one in any brand. but autozone has always treated me right when i have a problem.

Rolls batteries, will last longer than a lot of people keep their boats. I am about to replace my everstarts with a set. I have a couple of friends who fish on the FLW tour and they are both running Rolls. And both have had theirs about 5 years and with proper refills they are still recharging to 14 volts, and will run all day. They are a little spendy (about $175 each) but if they last 5 years, they will easily pay for themselves.

Rolls makes very good batteries, but if you can get a reasonable size (~200RC) for $179 you are doing well. That's about what a group 24 sells for. A big down side is that their warranty (which is prorated after 3 years) requires you to pay freight on the replacement battery, which will probably be more than $50, and my experience is that they are fairly hard nosed about warranty issues. Not that they do anything wrong, but most people are used to Walmart where they will give you a warranty exchange no matter how you abuse the battery.

I have to agree with IBFSHN - I've had really good luck with the Delco Voyagers. Great price for a sealed deep cycle battery. I think I gave $90 for my last one.

Delcos are now made by Johnson Controls...The same people that make several other brands. They are not the same battery people swore by in past years. Odyssey (formerly Hawker Energy) has re-introduced the "Trolling Thunder" ... Priced about same as Optima but claim more CCA's and reserve that the Optimas. Odyssey's are made in Warrensburg, Mo... The company makes batteries for aircraft, NASA, the military... and are beginning to get sport marine attention. Full warranty (replacement) for 3 yrs and claim they are built for a service life of 8-10yrs... 400 full discharges... Run a search.
