    Warren, looks like the transducer is mounted to the right of the motor. The lower unit may be blocking the left side signal at high speeds. Side scan at high speeds would be pretty useless due to the compresion of the target. If you set the scroll speed to it's maximum you will see more detail at higher speeds but not very much past 10 mph.

    Warren,

    Looking at the the snap shot above it looks like he is getting some blockage on the left side. That is the reason it is dark on that side. I was on the water yesturday with a guy and seen the same thing and figured out it was getting blocked on one side due to the signal being blocked.
