Looking for input/recommendations on a new Bow Mount foot controlled Trolling Motor...going to replace the "Mariner Stalker" on my 17' aluminum boat and would like some suggestions for the "best bang for my buck"? So many options out there, any input is greatly appreciated. Would like to stay in the $500-600 range?

Minnkota autopilot. You can always add the co-pilot later if you want. Also the autopilot can be added later on certain models.

I have gotten a 50 or 55 lb thrust minn kota power drive with probably less than 50 hours on it for sale for $300 plus shipping. It is a 12 volt. I just want a bigger one for my 18 foot fiberglass boat. I have only fished about 10 times in the last two years with it and the guy that I bought the boat from had just put it on there.

I guess I'm one of the smaller minority that really likes and haven't had a bit of trouble from MotorGuide. They have models that accomodate my needs better than Minn Kota and yes I have used both. Get the one that fills your need the best.

I've got a MinnKota Maxim 74 that I love (The new ones are '80's). Drags my 16' glass boat around easily (actually meant for larger boat) Chews it's way through the thickest weeds.

Just make sure it is variable speed. Nothing wrong with the 5 speed motors, just if your going to buy what best fits your needs, these are way more accomodating.
