    Bill,

I think Humminbird is "dancing around" this issue. I read some of the reports on iboats. Lots of unhappy folks about this issue and about the high speed issue. Seems to me they have had time to fix it. They just don't wanna admit an error on the design of the xducer mount. It would cost them bunch of money to make a mold to recast the plastic. Looks like they want us to solve their problems.

Same thing on the lockup issue. They want admit a problem. They need to fess up and fix the problems. That is what we all want. I can get all the lip service I need at home.:D

One thing for sure, I want throw my Lowrance away anytime soon.

Don't get me wrong, I like the 797. Just aggrevating in a couple of areas.

They'll never admit they made some boo boos. I'd invest in a SI unit if they would come up with the same features as my LCX27. I love being able to record almost 40 hours of fishing and then look at it at my convenience on my computer and get any waypoints off it I want. Just put it in my card reader and have at it. True you get much more coverage with the SI but I'm spoiled now.

That's a nice looking splash guard, the one I saw & was trying to describe in earlier post was mounted about the ducer. If U took the one in your pict and turned it upside down then mounted a couple of inches above ducer that's what I saw. It let water squirt thru ducer then hit splash guard mounted 2 inches above, they told me it worked fine & I saw no reason th think otherwise.
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....
