    Default Software updates

I’m give out. Decided to get it over with today, been needing to do it for awhile. Two helixs, mega live, and ipilot link + remote.
I thought I was going to do it with my phone and the home wifi. Nope!
After I got neck deep into it, found out my helix’s current software would not allow Bluetooth updates.
So, a trip to the madhouse aka Walmart for a blank micro sd and a card reader, then two trips down to my folks house to use the pc. Don’t have one currently functioning here at home. But got both head units up to date, and was then able to do ipilot and mega live here with my phone. I’m just not a natural with this new stuff, mentally drained.
But it’s saying everything in the network is up to date now, even the Ethernet hub. Maybe I get on the lake in the morning and see if it all jives.

Hopefully no issues and some improvement. Sounds challenging but you got it done. Good job.

I only do software updates if it appears it will solve some type of problem that’s affecting some function I actually use, and then I round up my 24 year and have him down load the updates on a SD card….So much of the stuff in updates has to do with functions I don’t have or never use. When all my graphs and troller are talking to one another through nema, and ether net and working, I don’t mess with around updates, I just cross my fingers every time I go out, and hope it all keeps working.

^^^^^ I am the same way if everything is working the way it is supposed to and am happy with it I leave it alone. Put in the new Humminbird Ethernet box and it required Helix`s updated to work properly. Went thru and updated all my Helix`s, trolling motor and Meg Live have not had it on the water yet so we will see.

Seems like updates are mandatory at some point on the Garmins . Migrating back to "birds " . Never got active captain to work . most likely my fault . Dang good with a flasher . lol

I have always been a grass is greener type, if theres a chance at some improvement then I want it. So when an update available comes up on my garmin app, you better believe im out in the boat doing the update. Never had any negative issues, although I've read about plenty.

When i had birds, i would dred it as it involved exactly what you described. With garmin i literally just connect to the network via wifi with one click and everything is updating through the app on my phone.
