Frankly, I can't see much more than tremendously grainy images which are only occasionally identifiable, such as a log with limbs, much less actually see fish to the side or under docks. I've seen absolutely nothing like the crisp images I see guys showing on their YouTube videos. Mine are just horribly grainy, and though I can see the "shadows" usually, I can only rarely make out what is throwing the shadow.

I've heard the GT56 is better and produces better images than the GT54. Is it THAT much better? I mean, if it would produce what I see, those nice crisp images or is it only a slight improvement? But I don't see just throwing a lot more money into it for a slight improvement.
    Appreciate any input!
I agree with Slabprowler.... quote," I can see so much more on the Garmins at such slower speeds even have picked up stumps, blue gill beds , grass lines etc."
Going slow using trolling motor should produce a much more detail return on the GT54 or GT56. I have recently upgraded to the Echomap 126 Ultra with the GT54 which was on half price sale at B Pro. It is better than the Echomap 93sv Plus which is what I did have. The key speed for a better, more detailed return. Also, pallet color, gain setting, and contrast also come into play. Another thing I read is don't have your SV frequency and CV frequency set the same. SV should be on a different freq. setting by it self. Hope this helps,

Totally agree.... Have seen YTube reviews between both units, 106 is slightly sharper images because of the pixels per sq inch. Very good point here. From what I have seen and read.... the main differences between the GT54 and GT56 is the 56 is larger and stronger Suppose to have more power increasing the overall range by 15 to 20 percent.

Talking about slower or faster speed for better picture for DI & SI yall need to know the setting labled " scroll speed" is very important. If you using trolling motor with scoll speed of 5 or higher thats bad and if your using transom ducer at 5 or lower thats bad. Its a bunch of pictures put together at once so a scoll speed of 1 on trolling motor your fish will be 10' long at a stop. Gotta match the speed traveled with the scroll speed to get the best picture and stopped wil never get a good picture

Well I picked up the 106sv ultra and got it installed this weekend. Well, I say installed. Basically just removed the 92sv and mounted the cradle onto the Ram mount. Plugs are all the same. Actually installation was moving the 93 up front.
I still have to snake the network cable but they are hooked together with it lying on the front deck which won't do, and they are communicating, though I haven't yet figured how to transfer my waypoints. I also updated both through the ActiveCaptain app.

FWIW, at Bass Pro I got a Scotty mount that is just like the RAM except made of heavy nylon. I was a bit skeptical since the Ram mount is built like a tank. I'm impressed with the Scotty mount, seems as solid as the Ram & spent $90 vs $135.
Now need to get on the water and dial everything in.

And I need to make someone a good deal on a Garmin Striker 5 Vivid which I removed from the front and no longer need.

At 1 point I had a 93sv uhd and 106sv ultra connected through garmins network cable. My waypoints transfered automatic, because they were just there when I powered it up. I was told the 106 power fuse needed to replace the 93sv power fuse so I did that but they did look the same to me. Better safe than sorry on that 10 second swap

Actually figured it out. Went to Nav Info/Manage Data/User Data Sharing (this was in OFF position, turned it ON on both units and all waypoints transferred) Routed my ethernet cable through the rod box & out front panel & I'm ready to try it all out. Just got to get to some water.
Still need to find a good home for the Vivid 5cv

You are really gonna love that 106. Go to Double T Fishing on YouTube. Subscribe and he will send you a cheat sheet for the 106. Go through it and set your 106 up accordingly. Then fine tune from there.

I've actually been communicating with this guy the last several days & discovered him last year with the 93. His is probably the best tutorials out there, or at least, the best I've found. I have his spread sheets printed out & gonna go back and level my transducer again, using his method.
