I got the 106sv/gt54 on the $999 deal to replace a 93sv. Liked it so much I went back to get another and they were out of stock so I got the 126sv/gt54. The new untra 2's have more bells and whistles but mainly the gt56. They do have wireless networking between other ultra 2's and the Force trolling motor and faster GPS but really is the same on everything else so your gt56 will give you the same picture as a ultra 2 if you put it on a ultra 106svOriginally Posted by happycaster58

I bought my first 106 Ultra and a Livescope system about 5 years ago. Over time I’ve bought a 126 and 2 more 106 units. I’ve never had a problem with any of these units.
I think right now they’re the best bang for the buck you can buy.

Well, I've got a 106sv waiting on my pickup at Bass Pro. Also got a network cable so I can move the 93sv to the front and all my waypoints etc. will integrate between the two. I'll report back on the level of improvement I experience.
Anyone have any problems running a GT54 mounted to the trolling motor?

No problem with the current motor, but it's a garamin Force so it's brushless. I had a GT 54 mounted to a motor guide Xi5, I got a lot of interference with that motor. It was an older motor that I think was on the way to crapping out on me. Motor was still working when the remote quit on me. Rather than buying a new remote I for it I switched over to the Force.

Another maybe dumb question. I bought the 93sv last year w/GT54 transducer. This 106sv comes with the same GT54. I’m assuming it’s exactly the same technology and thus no need to remove the old transducer, but rather, just plug in the new unit with my current (older) transducer and use the new GT54 with the 93sv that I’m moving to the front on the trolling motor.
I guess the question in a nutshell is, the newer GT54 isn’t any better or improved from the older GT54 is it?

You are correct, should be no difference between the GT54 transducers.

Good. I couldn't see removing one then going through the painful process of snaking the cable if there's no difference.

The GT54s are all the same they just changed the head units. One thing to remember if anyone is mounting them on a trolling motor is the GT56 is several inches longer than the GT 54 and won't mount on a lot of the MK because of the length of the transducer.
