Thread: GT54 vs GT56 transducer

I have a 106 on the front and a 93 on the back of my boat. The 106 is much clearer than the 93. Both have the 54 transducers. The side scan on the back 93 is not too bad and I can locate structure and fish with it fine, but the 106 definitely has a much cleaner and clear side scan image.

I mainly use the 93 now to motor to my way points but leave the screen split, map top and side scan bottom and can see suspended schools and new structure running big motor and the 93.

If your running too fast the side scan image will not be clear. Might need to slow down?

That’s what I had when I replaced the front 93 with 106 for live scope. Had 93uhd at console w/gt54 on transom. 106 and 93 networked for waypoints . One day I turned on sidescan on the 106 just to see if there’s a difference and I got mad for trying every setting in the world for 5yrs on 93. I could finally see structure on sidescan on 106 . Meanwhile the 93 looked like a 1975 RCA with broken rabbit ears , nothing but snow and the both running the same gt54 transducer

So if you're saying the 106 is that much clearer than the 93. Does that mean the 126 is clearer than the 106 ? Just curious cause I still haven't pulled the trigger on buying my new one yet.

The 106 and 126 have the processor and the same amount of pixels per unit but the 106 has more pixels per square inch than the 126 because the screen is smaller. So 106 should have the best picture . I have both and the difference is not much

Garmin 93

800 x 480 pixels

Garmin 106 and 126 1280 x 800 pixels

BPS has an earlier generation 106sv with 54 transducer for $999. Does anyone have one or know what the pixel count is? Looks like Gen2 is twice the price. I have a 56 transducer on a 93 and wanting to upgrade for better side resolution. Probably same pixel count as a 93 at that price. Thoughts?

Pixel count on the 106SV you are asking about is 1280 x 800.

The GEN 2 will have some upgrades vs the orginal Ultra though.

I already have the orginal ultra's. For me at the price they are selling at it's the best deal going right now.

I bought another one last Monday when they had the extra 10% off for putting it on their credit card.

If you go to Garmins web site you can find the pixel counts listed under specifications.
