Ok guys, I just ordered a new boat with a Motor Guide xi3 to be installed. My plan was to install my Garmin Striker transducer to the trolling motor. I just watched a YouTube video review on this tm. He recommended NOT to run the Garmin wires down the tm shaft because it has a good chance of cutting the wire when deploying the tm.
Anybody have experience?
I had an xi5 that I had a transducer mounted on, I put the cable inside a coiled piece of air hose.
Very similar to this video.

I also tried to be cautious when stowing the motor.
I've since changed over to a Garmin force, that I have livescope mounted on the trolling motor shaft. I came close to cutting the cable on the transducer. That would be a very costly mistake. Take your time deploying and stowing the motor.
