Thread: Batteries for livescope setups

I run a 60 aH Amped battery up front with a 1222, lvl 34, and a Helix 9. I can run for multiple days on that battery. To me the most impressive part of the Lithium is it puts out full voltage right to the end. no hard drop the last 30 percent of its charge cycle. They are definatly lighter and smaller too. Only downfall to Amp is they do not have bluetooth.

Consistent and higher voltage are big advantages over lead acid batteries. I run a Amped 48AH for my LS system and 1222 screen. Starts at 16.3 volts and can run all day and never get below 14 volts. Lead acid won't even charge to 14 volts ! Most electronics cut off or have problems if the voltage drops below 11.3 volts. The BMS (battery management system) protects a lithium battery against overcharging and low voltage also. They weigh 1/2 of a lead battery too. Are they worth the cost? I think so.

After consistently wearing down my Lead core starting battery, a guide I know suggested 20v Dewalt power tool batteries along with a Seelite power adapter that I mounted in the rod locker and ran the 5ft power cord to the black box. Now I can fish 6-8hrs without a issue. From what I read these units want clean power, so a single source battery close to the black box is the best set up. Also I read so much about how much voltage a Livescope system should run on, I called Garmin to ask, they said they run best at 11.7 volts. I just bought a new to me boat and will rig it with the Dewalt batteries.

I just got a 20ah Amped battery to run my livescope. My boat is only 14ft so weight is a huge factor. I park my boat outside so I bring my electronics and battery inside when not in use. My Amp battery weighs 4lbs while a deep cycle battery weighs 45lbs. The lithium battery cost around $35 more than the deep cycle which makes cost a non-factor for me. Buy chance a buddy of mines sold me a 18ah Amped battery for $50. It has only been charged 3 times before he sold his kayak. Due to cost I doubt I buy a big lithium battery to run my trolling motor but they are the cats meow to run your electronics.

I been using a Amped Outdoors 32 AH battery since 2020 . No problems to run my black box and 1243xsv all day. Would buy again .

I run the 16 volt 19 amp hour that amped outdoors use to sale & it will run my livescope all day without a hitch.

Does anyone run Dakota or Ionic batteries? It looks like they are all about the same price except the cost of the battery charger are much higher on some.

I dont know, but was told by a Marina owner to Do Not use Dakota batteries! so take it for what its worth, I have no experience with them.
