Default Buying a used Live scope

I've up graded my boat last fall and I'm thinking about getting into the Live Scope. I'm wanting to ease into to first and if I really like it and can justify it. I've been seeing some used units but I was wondering. Is there a way to test to make sure they're working other than going out with the person on their boat to see it on the lake. Thanks

This is actually a good question. I'm not sure there is a way to test it off water. Maybe it's just me but I have never heard of a black box going bad. Most problems with the transducer is due to nick wires. I would check the transducer cord for any cracks or nicks. I looked for a used unit for months with no success. I purchased a new unit from Bass Pro shop because they had a special. This was before the lvs34 came up and the market became flooded with the LVS32 units. I did buy a used 93SV from a forum member and it works great.

We went to the Louisville boat show today. I was talking to a vendor and he said that Hummingbird is going to be having a good sale next month, so I might look in to those too.

I bought a used one a couple years ago from a member here. No problems with it at all. Seeing it actually working is the only way I know of to verify it works.

Cabela's is still showing the Orginal Livescope LVS-32 systems for $1000. Signing up of there credit card can get the price down a little more also. They also give a military discount if that applies.

If it was me I'd be looking at getting one of those unless I could verify the used one was in good working condition and it wasn't more than $750

Every piece of electronics on my boat I purchased used and have had not had a lick of trouble with anything. Three Helix 12`s Gen 3, Mega Live, Mega 360, and my Genisis 10X3 charger, don`t know how many Thousands I saved but it has worked for me., most of them came from the BBC boards. Some of those guys buy new as often as I change underwear,
