    Default Lithium Battery Question

I need to get a separate battery for my Livescope/fish finder. 99% of my trips are 4hours or less. I can get a Dakota 12 10ah battery with charger for $100. It's my understanding that I should be able to get 6hrs out of this battery running my Livescope setup. Can anyone confirm this. The next size lithium batteryis twice the price without the charger. I will more than happy to get 4hrs out of a single charge.

Where'd you get the "understanding" that a 10ah battery would give you 6hrs runtime with a Livescope setup ??

I got a 50ah Lithium and only got 6hrs runtime, but I think it was only 75-80% charged when I used it. I got a 50ah because I've read that a Garmin 93sv & LS can pull close to 5a/hr ... and I don't usually fish more than 10hrs straight on any trip. I believe I should get a good 8hrs continuous running with the battery fully charged. Now .... I've only used it one time, and like I said I don't think it was fully charged when I did use it .... and I haven't had the opportunity to use it a second time, when I know it's fully charged, to see what length of time it will last before shutting off.

The battery is a ECO-Worthy 50ah and I got it and the charger for around $250 ... and I just looked & could get the same two items for $200 right now. (shipping is free in USA) And NO ... I'm not promoting the battery or company ... I just bought it to try it out and to save on weight, since I have to carry batteries to & from my boat & carry them up/down stairs, due to living in an apt complex.

After a bit research I found this information. A 93SV and Livescope box pulls 2.8 amps on average. Amps plus hour time gives 2.8x4 hours = 11.2 so a 10ah battery would not be enough. I'm gonna have to move up to a larger battery. I will likely get a 50ah which should cover me if I add another 93SV for the rear of the boat.

Pappy, you should be doing a lot better than 6 hours with your set up if your battery is fully charged. A friend of mine has the same livescope set-up as you but he's running an Eco-Worthy 20Ah battery and he's getting more than 6 hours out of his. In a normal days fishing, he's only run out of battery one time in the past year of use with his set-up. He advised me to go with a 30Ah battery when I bought my set up. I'm still using a standard lead acid battery for now but this spring I plan on getting the 50Ah battery because I may add a 2nd Garmin unit to my set up in the future.

I recently replaced my group 31 lead acid starting/electronics battery with an Impulse 105ah All Purpose lithium battery. I fished a little over six hours Friday running two Lowrance Gen 2 HDS 12's, two HDS Pro 12's, AT 2, two NMEA networks and my turret for the AT 2. The battery still had 70% charge when I put the boat away. BTW, the electronics I mentioned only draw 8.1 amps, all on.

One thing I forgot to add is I added this battery for my trolling motor (MK Terrova 12V), battery is a Lossigy 12V 100AH.

    Amazon.com

and I'm charging it on one of my banks with my Minn Kota 315D charger. My other 2 banks are still charging lead acid deep cycle batteries.
I was a bit apprehensive if this would work but it's been hooked up for a few months and no problems so far.
I will add the Eco-Worthy 50AH battery later this spring for my Livescope and I will add it to the 2nd bank of this charger.

For a starting battery, I will stay with a lead acid battery un less I can figure out a better option before I replace it later this spring also.

Going to lithium batteries for me is all about weight reduction. I'm 72 and it's getting harder and harder for me to move those heavy lead acid batteries around.
I've got a hernia now that I need to get repaired soon. The only thing heavy object I've moved in months was that trolling motor battery when I replaced it with the lithium.

Yeah, I think I should get a lot more time than that with the battery fully charged.

When I got it I hooked it up to the charger and the guage was solid up to the 75% mark & blinking on and off in the 75-100% mark. Not being familiar with the charger, I thought it was telling me it was charged and in maintenence mode ... but after putting it back on the charger that night & leaving it, realized the guage would be solid all the way up & not blinking when fully charged and maintenence mode is shown by the input voltage being down to like 0.XX volts & output at 14.XX volts.

My Minn-Kota onboard will tell me my lead acid battery is "charged" .... then I put the ECO-Worthy charger on it and it tells me it's not quite fully charged. Being as the E-W charger is a "smart" charger and the MK is not digital, I'm leaning towards believing the E-W charger over the Minn-Kota.

I'm just an old Gewber that learns more from my mistakes than from reading the instructions ...

Yes 100ah will run it a long time.

I have a 125ah that is running a 126 and two 106's along with 2 livescopes. I've fished it over 10 hours and still had better than 20% left on the battery.
