    Default Time to Convert?

My deep cycle battery bit the dust Wednesday while I was out on the water. I got about a year's worth of work out of it and now it wont hold a charge past 10V. I've been pretty rough on this 100$ battery so I definitely got my money's worth out of it. I'm thinking about making the conversion over to lithium since I don't want to go through this song and dance every year.

My main concern is picking up a battery (or two if need be) that will have enough capacity to keep me powered on all day (10-12 hours MAX, most fishing days are shorter than this but I would like to be prepared for a long day) . I'm using a 12V MinnKota Endura (45lb?), Garmin 93SV with no LS, and a Garmin Striker as a flasher for the front. Here's the questions I have:

    1. Am I making a mistake by wiring my sonar units into the same battery that is supplying my trolling motor?

    2. Is a 100AH battery overkill for the equipment I'm using on my tiny Jon boat?

    3. Would a combo of two smaller batteries be a better fit for what I'm trying to do? (One battery for the sonars, TM has it's own independent battery)

No onboard chargers, lights, gadgets, doohickeys, etc. I'm working with limited space in this tiny boat, so keep that in mind. Hope everyone had a blessed week!

To further clarify question 1, I haven't had any interference issues with my sonar units so far. Wondering if that would change with the lithium battery?

, give Impulse Lithium (sponsor) a call and see what they think. My own brain says a lithium 100 ah might be your answer to avoid having to have 2 battiries on board. Might even be able to go with a 50ah. Lithiums also weigh less which is a plus.

Thanks Buckeye, I have been planning on giving the Impulse guy a call. I think he's in Guntersville if I remember correctly. If so, he's only an hour away from me. Would be very nice to have one of those!

I’ve been switching over to his stuff - Impulse - as my old stuff reaches its end. He’s been great to deal with.

Impulse is in Pelham. Only two companies I would consider with be Ionics or Impulse. For one battery, I would go to a 125ah.

I checked the price on that 120AH Impulse and about fell out of my chair. The Ionics seems to be a better deal on the 125. Thank you for the input!

I know they are expensive. With a 10 year expected life it might be worth it. Someday I’ll convert as well.

I have a 100 amp hour lithium powering a 55lbs Terrova. Took it out Tuesday. Shot docks from daylight until 1 pm. Used the trolling motor to maintain position of the boat and travel between docks . When I got home I checked the battery and I was at 82 %. I probably trolled for 3 miles total at 10 on the trolling motor. This 1 lithium replace 2 deep cycle batteries.

Thank you sir, this is the kind of info I was looking for. I'll be ordering something here soon and I'll try to report back.

It figures that my battery would give up right as the crappie were turning back on LOL.
