I got a years free trial when I sold the rest of my immortal soul to Johnson Outdoor Products. - i can play with maps on my phone just like in the boat. I zoomed in and took a snap on Sardis. Gives me something to do while being king of the porcelain throne now since I dumped Facebook.
For the record, I’m out in the garage now though Hummingbird color Platte .Name: IMG_2400.jpg

I had multiple colors but changed something to lose it . Should unit be on angler mode ? when you chose the shallow color and set a depth on the 1st set color does that eliminate everything else ? example I have red 0-3 ft , and chose 20-30 as my 1st color (color is green ). from 4-19 is white and so is anything over30 ft .

The angler mode basically just hides a lot of menus and options. The other mode opens up everything. I leave mine there. I wander around like a kid lost in the woods pushing buttons. Always got restore factory settings if I get too far gone. I have my first, red, shallow water set on 15 foot. This time of year just got no interest there.
After that, I’ve got 15-20,20-25,25-30, and 30-100 set, different colors for each. If a depth of water on the map isn’t included in one of them, yeah it’ll show white.

I had a mess going at first, I had it set like 15-19,20-24 and so on. Had a bunch of little white spots scattered around. It likes the ranges to end one color and start the next on same number. Like 15-20, 20-25

(have my first, red, shallow water set on 15 foot. This time of year just got no interest there.)

Do you not fish less than 15 fow this time of year. I have been catching all my fish on flats in standing timber in 6 to 12 fow here in Kansas. Water temp is 80. Just curious how deep of water and how deep the fish are with a thermocline at about 17' here. I keep my red a 5 ft for safety and with our lakes over 4 ft low so I keep my lake level offset at -4 ft so my maps depths are correct.

Where and how I fish, no. Usually 20-25, often even deeper. Fish may only be 10-15, suspended, but thats how it is where I am. Even in the spawn, I’m usually in 10 foot or more.
We have no standing timber, and water temps have been getting way up in the 90’s by afternoon. No thermocline, lots of flowing water.

I find I get more colors when I fish deeper lakes. I get more colors on water that is 100' deep versus water that is only 25' deep. While you can control the color of a depth range and shallow water. I think the rest of the lake depth is preset to a different color. I change my shallow water depth to match the amount of risk I am willing to take when cruising from spot to spot. If the lake restricts my speed, or the lake depth is fairly shallow, I set it for 5' or less. Sometimes 3' if I trolling up a creek. I may move it out to 10' for WOT. This marks my map red.
Then I set my preferred fishing depth to 15' with 5' grace on each side. Highlights everywhere on the lake in that range in green. The rest of the lake has some sort of presets and the color changes to match. I haven't played with that yet. Honestly I only care about my target depths and shallow water.
