Livescope Acting Crazy - Need Help
My LVS32 has worked flawlessly for 2.5 years. Last week it lost its mind. It started rotating its image. The bottom would be vertical and would slowly move back to 90 degrees like it should. It will eventually get back to normal but when you turn the trolling motor it will do it again. I called Garmin and we updated the software and calibrated the compass but that didn’t help either. I ended up turning off the AHRS feature and it will work but I’ve always run the AHRS on before and don’t understand why out of the blue it lost it’s mind. Have any of you folks experienced anything like this before? If so, what did you do to fix it?
Thanks for your help,
Richard

I would check your battery low voltage can do crazy things and all connections.

Did you restore defaults after updating? Also like said they are voltage sensitive although Garmin is not nearly as bad as mega live. Kind of sounds like a glitch too.

I’ve reset to “Default Settings” twice with no help. Also my voltage is 13.1v, the same as it’s been since I’ve owned the setup. It’s got me bumfuzzled and evidently the Garmin techs as well.

Yes, the issue is with your AHRS system. Initiating compass calibration (don't have to finish it, just start process then exit) or a system reboot resets the AHRS system and usually corrects any issues. The AHRS can be totally faulty. In this case, the work-around would be to turn AHRS off, then manually adjusting your Pitch Angle.

That’s what I’ve done. It just seems really weird to me that the AHRS system would just go out all at once. Like I said it has been fine and was working for 4-5 hours then it lost it’s mind.

i just had the exact problem and I called Garmin and did some on the water tests, he said the heading sensor was bad in my lvs32. Garmin sent me a new unit and I sent the old one back. Problem solved, Garmin has been exceptional when it comes to customer service.

Might as well get used to running with the AHRS off. Mine did the same thing after a year. No fix found on my end or several friends of mine. The good news is, once you level the bottom , you will not miss the AHRS. Or at least we haven't.
