First, read your owner's manual completely and learn what all the settings are and how to change them. Next, search Youtube videos for information on your exact unit. There are bound to be tutorials there that will help. Then, re-set factory settings, Youtube again, and change color palette to blue as others have said. If all that fails, contact Lowrance or your local Lowrance factory authorized repair shop and get unit looked at. Good Luck with it. It takes a while to learn any new electronics but it can be mastered.

I think you're mis-interpreting DI as D1; DI is short for "down imaging", not D with the numeral #1. The pictures you show above are what is commonly referred to as "2D"; I've always thought it meant "2 dimensional". It is the standard sonar view for nearly all makes of finders. These are 2 different ways to show the same information.
Crappie Pappy's first 3 pictures seems to be the DI view, not the standard 2D view that you're showing. Hopefully, that will get you a bit clearer on what the 2 views look like.
I'm not familiar with your unit but surely there must be Youtube videos on how to adjust it and ongoing explanations that should help understand what the adjustments are changing, as HappyCaster mentions above. Does it have a demo mode that you can play with when you're not out fishing? I found that helped me a lot when I was just starting out. I use Humminbird units, that's why I'm not up on exactly how your unit operates. Printed owners manual should also have explanations.

Edit to add: A quick Youtube search for Hook 7 Lowrance gives a couple basic videos right off the bat. You might also watch some "sonar for dummies" which does a good job of explaining things as well. Might not match exactly to your unit but will still be worth a look-see.

Everything you see on the screen (at any speed) is just "history", except for what is coming up on the far right edge of the screen. That's what the sonar ping is "seeing" at that moment.

If the fish were going as fast as the boat and staying in the Down Image ping .... they'd show up as a straight line across the screen.

Now, as far as seeing all those potential "fish", and not catching any of them .... remember, your depth finder is only a tool to show you what's within the ping of the sonar. It's not going to make them bite, or jump in the boat, just because you found out where they are. Believe me, Livescope has taught me that and humbled me in the process.

I took several screenshots on my old E5DSI, and showed you most of them. But, to be honest, I don't remember catching any of the fish shown in those pics. So don't feel bad about not catching what you see, just keep using your Hook to locate the cover and the fish (that's all they're designed for) .... you will eventually understand more about what you're seeing, and how to react with the proper method to lure them into biting your offerings.

    Luck2ya in your adventures !!

Chart speed will change the speed at which your history passes to the left. The faster you're traveling, the faster your chart speed needs to be. That may be why you're seeing that big bunch of fish stay under your boat after you've moved a good distance.

    Default Lowrance hook 7

I thought I might add to the Hook7 questions. I have recently purchased a boat with the Hook 7 on the console. Having always run Humminbird units, I struggle with the Lowrance. On my Humminbird 899 I always had a line that would show the channel. With the Hook 7 all I have is cookie trails from the previous owner. I’m fine in water I know but get real nervous elsewhere. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to see if there is an option to show the channel on the Lowrance and can’t find it. I have also installed a Lowrance compatible Navionics chip I had at home with no luck.
    Am I missing something.
If not I also have a Garmin unit that is the same size I could switch out if that might help. This won’t work with Livescope but I already have that up front.

I haven't been out to check mine . The hook itself will only have base maps, but I thought it showed channels and channel markers.
