LVS32 cable splice?
I got a cut in my original livescope transducer cable that ultimately made it inoperable. Fortunately my insurance took care of it and I was just out the deductible. I still have the original and was just messing around looking at it. I cut it in half and noticed there are tons of tiny wires in that thing!! My question is there anyone out there that ever successfully spliced one of these back together? I know thats not a job I would want to tackle but might could find someone if its worth a shot?

I would highly discourage any splice “if” the splice is going to be below the water line ...
A short might potentially fry a transmitter ...
I would also discourage selling a spliced cable xducer ... frying someone else’s transmitter would be worse ...
I’ve spliced several over the years for myself ... I’ve even spliced Lowrance transducers to plug into Humminbird units ...
But never a LVS32 - yet ...

Solder with heatshrink tube over each wire, then a piece of heatshrink with the sealant inside to cover the splice as the outer sheath and provide a degree of waterproofing. At least that is how I would do it

Thanks guys. This is definitely not something I would tackly myself and never would even think about selling it. I just wondered if anyone had done it sucessfully becuase it would be nice to have a spare just in case something goes wrong with the one I have. Looks like I will leave it be for now.

If you stagger the splices out then it makes for a more uniform cable diameter. Also by staggering you reduce the chances of having a short. Old cable splicers trickI tried to IMAGINE the size of the splice with all those little wires in heat shrink. You ever see a snake with a rabbit in its belly?
