Default Livescope updates on original lvs32

I've never done an update on my lvs32. Have read that there are some updates that folks don't like. What updates would y'all recommend? What are the improvements in the updates? Thanks in advance.

There are all sorts of opinions all across the web. Many come when updating with active captain, I am told. I used the SD card, did the latest updates last Thursday, everything was working ok, but wanted the better color etc. Updated on the water, update installed, then took the rest of the afternoon to get things workable, including phone time with Garmin. Still not sure it was worth it. Bass boat central has some good information.

I have done every one with Active Captain and have been happy with all. Hope my next update is to add the LVS34.

Griz, I was told by Garmin after updating my software from 18.00 &2.55 to 19.10 & 2.57 to restore to factory defaults. My imagery got a lot worse immediately after the update & they said that it would clear it up after restoring defaults so we’ll see.

Depend on what version you are on now. I tend to keep mine on perspective mode, I also have an LVS 12 that I use in forward mode. I tend to use the perspective to locate fish then look at the other screen to see what depth they are at. I also normally fish the same lake so I'm pretty familiar with it.

Les, I just want to check with you to see if your latest update was corrected, I am at 18.20 & 2.54 and I don’t want to update to 19.10 & 2.57 if it’s not working correctly.
    Thanks for any feedback.

I hear 19.10 wasn’t liked by many but the very newest update 20 maybe, is really good.

Garmin Guru on YouTube likes it as well.

This would be 20.0 on ECHOMAP units.

SuperDave,if I understand correctly you are stating that 20 & 27.1 are the same, but for different units.

SuperDave336, my last post didn’t come out correctly. What I was trying to confirm is do I need to update my head unit to 20 and also update my black box to 27.1 to get the results of the video?
