I live in Mississippi. We've terential rain here for weeks.
It's muddy everywhere. Has anyone noticed diminished livescope performance in muddy water as apposed to clear? Mine has been crappie in muddy water.
I wouldn't think it would be as effective in real muddy water, but since I don't fish in such conditions I'd be just guessing. Considering how the sonar ping would pick up a lot of the particles suspended in the water, I'm not sure how one would change any of the settings to compensate.
It's has been the same way here in SC. Between all the pollen in the water and the muddy water for an abnormal about of rain, anything other than "old school" sonar doesn't work great. My Mega Side/Down is not clear this time of year either. Been running on 800khz for the most part, the water column and bottom features are not well defined otherwise.
Livescope hasn't been easy to follow a jig for about 2 months. Been trolling jigs as a result of that.
Just the nature of the beast with this technology, it's so good that it picks everything! Even the stuff you don't want...

I could see the pollen floating on top of the water this weekend. It was thick
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
These are my settings for particulates in water pollen or mud- Noise reject high, TVG med, gain 52-56, color gain default or lower than normal 55-65 and reduce your range to no more than 45' . With these settings you won't get a crystal clear screen with a lot of stuff in the water but you can still see jig and fish.Took a lot of expermitting to figure this out. Scott
