    Default Ultrerx spotlock problem

I was fishing today and my spot lock on my ultrex would cancel when the head of the unit pointed directly at the boat....no problems at any other position. Weird. Any ideas? I could move the head unit out of that position and then re-engage spot lock...

Make sure the foot pedal does not touch anything in its travel during Spotlock. ...

Spotlock will cancel with a very small amount of resistance against the pedal ...

Thanks Rickie! I bet that’s what the problem was. I’ll try it out and see. Thanks again!

I have an ulterra and mine kicks off after hose wraps up on my head unit. Motor will not turn a full 180 degrees without disengaging. I have the precision sonar mount. Any solutions?

I’ve seen 2 scenarios of the coiled hose idea ... 1 coils around the shaft and the other idea does not coil around the shaft ...

In either scenario the coils have to be able to flex enough to not cause any resistance against the shaft, head, motor housing, (or pedal in Ultrex) ...

It is Spotlock design to disengage with any resistance to left or right travel ...

I pulled more cable out to extend the length of the cable or tranducer cable cover for lack of a better term. Was not easy to do but have extended the cable. This past week end, it appeared to doing a better job of spot locking but there was little to no wind. Will see if lengthing the cable has helped going forward.

Are you saying that a Minn Kota trolling won't stretch and break a transducer cable or does that only pertain to the ulterra

Terrova and Ulterra using any type of “coil” to encompass a transducer cable must have enough slack in the coils to not tighten to the point of binding the hose ...

Ultrex rotates 270° ... I’m not sure what the maximum rotation of Terrova or Ulterra is ...

Thanks for clearing that up Rickie. Terrovas under the right circumstances will do a 720
