    Default Garmin PS 22 transducer

I am new to the site and new to Garmin. I have a ultra 106 on the front of the boat.

Just wondering, is it even worth trying this PS 22 transducer. It would be plug and play, no black box and a very easy addition to my setup. Will I get good images or should I save my $$$.

It depends on what your wanting to do with it. It’s not Livescope, not going to get clear images of wood cover like wood it. It’s sort of like a 2d sonar version of LS. You can’t see crappie hiding in wood cover or holding close to the bottom like you can with Livescope but it is very functional if you don’t have any forward facing sonar at all.

The ultra 106 can use the livescope LVS12 right? Might be a better option than the ps22 if so.

Its plug and play, no black box but is narrower beam and not as powerful as the full livescope bundle. Its also only $500.
