    Default echomaptm ultra 126sv question

Lately, my echomap ultra 126sv has had a problem with displaying the proper depth at the top of the screen. It displays proper depth at the bottom of the screen, it is just the dept at the top of the screen that displays wrong.

It will be in 25 ' depth and it will display 5' or 6' of depth. Usually a fraction, such as 5.6'. When I am in 15' of water it will show 1.1 or 1.2' as the depth. But it does not display the wrong depth constantly.

It will show 1.1' for a minute or two, then will display the correct depth of 15.6' for a few minutes. Then it will show 1.1' again for a short period of time. Back and forth every few minutes.

As I said, the bottom is displayed properly and you can see the correct depth along the side of the graph, it is just the displayed depth at the top that keeps changing.

Does anybody else have this problem and have suggestions as to how to correct it?

It's possible that some big ole crappie are swimming under your boat and messing with the depth. If ain't already I would run a dedicated line from the unit to the battery.

First thing to do is a master reset. That fixes more electronic problems than anything else going.

I thought I replied to this last night but don't see it.

I have a dedicated battery for the livescope set up. It sits in the front cabinet on which the 126 is mounted. The power cables from the 126 and the black box go directly to the battery.

This occurs from initial start of the day till the end of day. So it is also not related to battery voltage.

I need to call Garmin support, I just hate waiting on hold for a tech.

I've done this several times. I did it twice yesterday during a 5 hour fishing trip. It doesn't fix the problem.

I've tried using the default settings in case something in my custom settings were causing the problem. Still happened, even with default settings.

I've also tried turning it off when it happens and then turning it back on. This also does not change anything.
