I just got mine installed on Thursday. I took it out for a look around on Friday. I was amazed at what I saw. I spent a little time on down and saw a few fish but didn’t try to catch any.
For those of you who have been using it for a while, does down show up enough to see crappie close to the bottom in 30 or more feet of water?
When you see them can you also see your bait down to them like I’ve seen on videos of suspended ones?
I prefer the forward setting and like the angle to be 30-40 degrees
It still allows me to see under the transducer and can use a 6ft rod to give a vertical presentation. I’m making myself rely on the bnm 12 fts to keep from spooking fish. I’ve seen that on bigger fish moving away from the boat.
It’s trial and error with me while I learn this new addition but it shows me what I’ve done wrong n the past very quickly.
Post some pics or vids when you can to help us.

Bingo. We have always had to assume what was happening down below. Now you can watch it. You also learn a whole different way to think about fish behavior cause they get up close and personal with your jig then then just turn and swim away or head back down. I've learned a new pattern in how to jig to get those persnickety ones to bite. LOL Totally new way to enjoy fishing. Your gona love it. I agree with everyone else. Forward view.

So what if I were vertical spooning for walleye 50 feet deep would forward still be the way to go?

Holding or drifting? If you are drifting, I would use forward and aim it the way you are moving. If you are spot locked or fishing a specific hole, I would say down view is fine. Petty much a personal preference, although you will be able to zoom in on bottom better using the down-view. 50' of water is going to be hard to see without zooming in, with a unit smaller than 12".

So I don’t know what you mean. Can you explain how you know you are seeing behind. I’ve only been out once before our weather turned nasty.
