    Default Lithium Battery Help

I am mounting a Garmin echomap 106sv up front on my boat and need help knowing what size you recommend. Considering a 12v 18 ah It will not run Livescope. Also what is the best brand at the best price? I run an Amped on my Livescope unit.

Looking at Garmins website they say that typical amp draw is 3 amps and maximum amp draw is 6 amps.

At their stated typical amp draw of 3 amps . A 3 amp hour battery will run the unit for a hour ( in a perfect world). Once you know the amp draw of the unit the next consideration is how long do you want it to run. The amp draw of the unit times the number of hours you wish to operate the unit will give you the amp hour battery you need. If you go with 4.5 amps draw to be in the middle of their typical and max draw for the unit. It would run 4 hours at that discharge rate on the 18ah battery. 6 hours at their stated typical draw of 3 amps for the same battery

I got a 106sv at the BPS black Friday sale. I've had it out about 5 times hooked up to an 18v Makita 5 ah battery. It displays the LS, maps, and 2D if that makes any difference. It'll last about 3 hours before the battery gets down to 16v. I don't know if 16v is good or bad for an 18v battery but that's what I've been doing just to give you an idea of real world use.

This is exactly what I do! No interference fears and no fear of running down trolling motor batteries! Works really well!
