    Default Helix map sharing

Currently, I have a helix 9 si at the console and have a chart select map for it. If I were to move the 9 to the bow and purchase a larger unit for the console, will the map be shared to both units when networked? Or do I need to purchase a separate map for the future unit?

Sorry but Helix units don't share maps, only Solix and the new Apex units do.
However they will share waypoints if you network them.

I believe I read somewhere that the map card gets encrypted to the unit it is put in so I guess I won't be able to copy the file to another card either.

Yep,,,,you have to buy a card for each unit. Can’t copy a map card.

I have a Helix 12 on the bow and a Helix 9 on the console. They have there own zero lines card. You can copy data from one card to the other with Auto Chart the PC program. That's how I do it.

Map card data is never written to the head unit - mapping is “read” directly from the card and overlayed visually onto the chosen base map ...

”Encription” is a function applied to a SD Card (by the HB head unit) that allows downloading a Chart Select map to an “Encripted” SD Card :
    https://www.humminbird.com/learn/mapping/chartselect

The Chart Select program is a LakeMaster product allowing the purchase of map data for one single lake ...

Once a SD Card is Encrypted and a Chart Select map is downloaded to that encrypted SD Card = that SD Card is now a fully functional LakeMaster map card with all the features of a LakeMaster regional map card ...
    ——
    ——

As mentioned above HELIX units cannot share any mapping over Ethernet ...
    ——
    ——

Also as mentioned above -> AutoChart map data is the only map data that can be copied to a separate SD Card ... AutoChart map data can be created using the “AutoChart Live” feature in HB head units or in the PC based AutoChart PC software ... (the LakeMaster Zero Line card is used for either of these 2 AutoChart processes) ...
    ——
    ——

*LakeMaster regional map card data cannot be copied to another SD Card ...

*Lakemaster Chart Select map card data cannot be copied to another SD Card ... (but can be copied into the FishSmart app on phone or tablet within the same purchase) ...

Yes ... A purchased Chart Select map can be used in any HB unit that has a card slot ...

Just note : some HB units are full size SD Card and some HB units are micro SD Card ...

And the Chart Select purchase is dedicated to the very card it was downloaded to and cannot be downloaded to a separate SD Card ...
