Having fished with garmin & megalive both garmin wins hands down right now. I have 2 helix units but went garmin for livescope.
I am late to the game so I say Ford! I guess it’s to each their own but Rickie put some great videos out there for you. YouTube has a ton of videos on both systems.

x 2 on the Garmin. I've fished with both as I had a friend on humminbird prostaff who got mega before it was introduced to the public and have followed the updates. I don't know what mega will become but for now Garmin is superior but any forward looking sonar is better than none. Scott
Have not been on a maga but thank you for the info.

O ya. After getting on a live scope I about lived on YouTube for a while . Something that cost like that I do the homework for hours before buying. Think I seen every Garmin LS Ver Lowrance AT on there.
Something I didn't know and learned when I went over to Motor-tech in Suffolk VA ( best fix anything on a trolling motor place I know of , turn them up and they install .) Bought a little 30 minn kota Christmas to go on the back of the boat adding a foot switch from the front now to keep the rear from coming around in wind and keep me on one place. but anyone can load the gamin software on a Lowrance Carbon you just have to run the Garmin black box and transducer . Bingo. YOu have live scope on a high resolution lowrance unit. While the higher resolution units are on sale with the rear transducer you basically can save about 4 to 5 hundred and come out with that three in one transducer for the back end. Thats what i went after. $2150 complete boat set up front and rear with Active Target. . . You can do that with a stick steer boat.
We won't hold you liking a Ford agents you.
Tom at MotorTech is a master with trolling motors. I've had everyone I ever had turned up at least 18 pounds more power one if I remember correctly about 25. . Boy knows his stuff. When I went to get the small 30 we got into a conversation about cost. He went in his cabinet showed me a bill for 18400 dollars . Just electronics on one boat. 4 graphs two of those down riggers on the rear and the install. Me I do things cheap Add a 100 dollar trolling motor and a foot switch for 24 bucks is my down rigger. LOL
Way out my pay grade and I have to look around and save what I can.

On my 8616 settings that work for me : noise reject high, TVG low or off, gain about 63 most of the time, color gain 83, range 50-60 ft, I fish 60 most of the time and don't cast until fish get's under 30' and I've gotten very good at sniping open water fish. I'm having a ball with mine. My 2 cents. Scott
