I'm in the market for a new spot lock trolling motor for my 2001 javelin venom 17. The current factory motor has 44 pounds of thrust which does ok on speed one or two unless its windy. But if it is then I find myself having to raise the speed to hold my position but then its extremely hard to control. I'm looking at the minnkota since I have humminbird electronics but doubt I will ever go with the Ipilot link. Question is would I be ok with a 12 volt 55 pound thrust or should I add a battery and go with 80? Also I do plan on getting a down Imaging unit for the bow in the future so I was wondering about getting a trolling motor with the built-in transducer or is that something that would be better just being bought separate and saving the money. Any help in this matter would be appreciated
