Don't know if a QuadraBeam transducer can work with a 788 DI model? Maybe someone else can confirm that. Also not sure of that part number. Most information I've seen reflects a different part number that is XTM-9-QB-90-T.
Let's hear the good, bad and ugly of it. Was reading the manual for a new to me 788 CI HD DI. If I understand it will need a different transducer to use it in the QuadraBeam mode. I found a XTM-6-TB-90 is this the right one? Will I need to get anything else or will this require running another transducer to get all the functions it is capable of.

I am not sure either as was something read in the online manual that covers more then my unit. 788ci HD, 788 CI HD DI and 788HD XD are covered but doesn't specify which uses or not.788 Combo Operations Manual Combo Operations Manual is the title on it.

You would need to change the User Mode to “Advanced” (under the Setup tab) and then check in the Connected Transducer Menu (under the Sonar tab) to see if there is an option for Quadrabeam ...
XTM 6 TB is an old Humminbird tri-beam xducer no longer supported ...

HB use to make an AD 926 adapter cable to convert the old 2pin #6 connector to the newer #9 connector ...
Humminbird - Humminbird AD-926 Adapter 7 Pin Transducer - 2 Pin Unit #11-33181
But that actually does no good if the unit doesn’t have a Connected Transducer selection for a TriBeam xducer ...

Years ago I had a color hummer, don't remember model, with a quadrabeam. Recently I got ahold of a XTM-9-QB-90-T. And bought a 788hd ci. It had downvision but wasn't quadrabeam compatible. Just got a 788 ci non hd and it has QB and no dv. I called humminbird CS and they didn't know which one was what but knew there was a difference in the 788s
I replaced a Garmin 53 on my one-man bass boat and Im liking the QB better. I do miss the map create feature and the dv but with this boat and for locating brush piles on the cheap (compared to side imaging) it works pretty good and tell which side it is and keeps me on the edge of weedlines.
One thing to note and I hope I can explain this well enough is this. Even though they claim twice the bottom coverage to your depth you won't see the bottom area on the outside because the inner edge of the side beam will hit bottom and show everything below that as bottom. If the brush pile or whatever is high enough though then you will see it.

788ci Sonar GPS- color, internal GPS, 2d only, CCFL backlit screen
788ci DI GPS - color, internal GPS, 2d and DI, CCFL backlit screen
788ci HD Sonar GPS - color, internal GPS, 2d only, LED backlit screen
788ci HD DI color, internal GPS, 2d and DI, LED backlit screen
There was also a few small unit models that could have 2d only (no GPS) or DI (no GPS) ... but I don’t remember the exact model numbers ...
