Default Terrova vs Ultera vs Ultrex

I am looking to upgrade tm on 17' aluminum boat. Currently have a 12v tm with limited space to add a battery. An installation shop has looked at the battery compartment and believes that they can add 1 more. Which one is the better choice between the Terrova, Ultera and Ultrex and why? I've heard several comments on the electric foot pedals vs the cable pedal. Any advice is helpful. Thanks

Consider a lifepo4 battery pair. Smaller and half the weight.

Ultrex is power assisted cable steer - with added remote control functions ... (cable steer guys usually upgrade to Ultrex to stay with a foot pedal “feel”)

Terrova and Ulterra are electric steer - with added remote control functions ...

Ulterra also has power deploy and stow ...

Same here, Ulterra has made it much easier, I fish a lot by myself plus all the gear I have on the front of my boat makes it easier than trying to work over or around rod holders and graph mounts to self deploy.

We currently own an ulterra and a ultrex. In our jet which is a tiller steer the ulterra self deploy is swell, the foot pedal is in one of the storage boxes, never been hooked up. In our old 87 champion bass boat the ultex works wonders, as Rickie mentioned above it is very similar to a cable steer. They both are excellent. The ulterra is nice if i am taking kids or those not familar as I can stay at the back by the tiller steer big motor and run the boat. I can tell you that around lots of timber or docks I prefer the Ultrex and more responsive steering. Probably too old to learn the flat steering kept going in circles. That said I think you can still get a Terrova in 12 volt, My favorite is the Ultrex but love the ulterra and the Terrova was good.

I’ve owned two Terrovas and do like them. I love the remotes and spot lock features. The current Terrova is a 24v 80lb on a 1775 Lund and it moves it well. If I had a unlimited resources, I would go with the Ulterra next purchase. Not for the deploy feature but for the sonar upgrades that can be added such as a Mega 360 or Livescope on the head unit. No factory choices for mounting those to a terrova. Just my .02 but all are good units

A friend is a fitness freak and he say putting out a trolling motor and pulling it back up is horrible for ageing backs. Self deploy will be my next one.
