It is most likely reflections off the right toon ...
The only definitive fix is to run left and right SI xducers with the 9 M SILR Y cable ...

I am hoping for some help troubleshooting distortion in my side imaging. The "fuzzy" on the right side just started to occur. Transducer is mounted on the left toon of a pontoon boat. I was thinking that the motor was causing interference however, the "smudge" still shows when motor is out of the water.

That sounds logical. However when I first installed the unit the "smudge" was not there. Is there anything else that could cause that? I would hate to spend the money installing another mounting plate and transducer and that not solve the problem.
Could you transducer have gotten knocked out of level in the left to right plane causing the right side to looking upwards slightly?
Ricky, if you run 2 transducers do you have to change any settings or does the head unit recognize that?

No settings need to be changed. The cable connects the 2 Si elements so the unit sees the same thing it did before.

Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile.
Will it see both sides from both transducers?
It takes one SI from each transducer .... so it will get the right SI, 2D and temp from one transducer (unless you also have a Y cable for a shoot thru) .... and the left SI from the other.
