Unfortunately LakeMaster doesn’t have a Chart viewer like Navionics does ...
If you have a certain area of a certain lake - I’m sure someone can post a comparison pic of the LakeMaster data ...

I have two older Navionics cards that are no longer supported and able to be updated. $99 for a new updateable card. I have three HB units (788, 898 and 859). I have read that Lakemaster is the way to go with the HB units. Where can you go to see a side by side comparison as to what I would be seeing on my units between the Navionics and the Lakemaster cards? I can go to Navionics and see the chart viewer to get it but have not been able to find Lakemaster card images that would help me decide how or if I need to upgrade.
I fish in KY and TN. ANd from the looks of what I see on my units vs what I am seeing on the Navionics chart viewer on-line there has not been that much detail added since these cards I currently have.

It would be nice if I could see Barren, Old Hickory, Barkley or KY on lakemaster. Those are lakes where I fish the most. But I got excited a bit when I saw that Green River (river not the lake) was also covered to some degree.
The new Navionics I would need and a Lakemaster V5 for Southeast are nearly identical in price. The units I have are older so I doubt they support smartstrike and autochart and I don't have a TM that I link them with so no sharing info to it either.
Unless one map has HD for the lakes you fish on, then the only thing you are loosing going to Navionics depth highlight which I use constantly and would be lost without..
At KY Dam
At Barkley Dam
Is there any certain area of Ky or Barkley you would like to see?

Another option you might think about is HB Chart Select allows purchasing single lake LakeMaster contour data ...
Once purchased the map data can be downloaded to a encrypted SD Card and to the FishSmart app ... (the pix I posted above are from the FishSmart app) ...

No, I guess my hangup is just making sure that the new map cards show "as good" on the older units as they do on the new ones. I don't mind spending the money to get the newer updated stuff I just want to make sure I will get the full benefit with the older units. Like sticking a blue ray player and blue ray disc onto an old tube television, no matter how "good" the hd and clear picture of the blue ray, the tube tv is the limiting factor to how good the picture is.
I am honestly wondering the same thing with my transducer on the 898. I think, if I have read and understood the packaging correctly, that in SI I am running at 200Hz frequency, but there is an "upgrade" transducer that will get me to 800 or 455 at minimum with it. I am also currently getting interference between by 859 and 898. I have to turn the 859 sonar off to get a clear SI picture on the 898. I really miss being able to split screen the 859 to 2d and DI and have SI on the 898. Is there a setting that will keep me from having interference on the 898? I tested it and confirmed the 859 sonar being on is the issue. Nice clear picture in SI on the 898 when I turn the 859 off.
Mapping data should show the same detail regardless if its on a old or new unit ... it may seem “brighter” on a new unit due to newer LED backlighting in the newer units ...
——-
Your 898 transmits 83kHz/200kHz 2d and 455kHz/800kHz SI/DI ..
Your 859 transmits 455kHz200kHz 2d and 455kHz800kHz DI ...
If your 898 is still using its original xducer - it is the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T and the best xducer for the 898 ...
——
Crosstalk interference happens when 2 units are transmitting the same frequency and the Sonar beams overlap under the boat ...
Both your units transmit 200kHz 2d - which is the likely culprit of your crosstalk interference ... (both 2d Sonar cones are overlapping under the boat) ...
Try setting the 859 Sonar beam frequency under the Sonar tab to 455kHz only (instead of the default 455kHz/200kHz) ... this should turn off the 200kHz transmit in the 859 (if I recall correctly) ...

Best if you have a windows based computer.
I have a Apple and it worked , but it took a lot of guess work. Plus a friend coming over to helpSent from my SM-G965U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
