Very interesting. I have a Summit mount on the way. I'll try it out when I get a chance.
I have Echomap 93sv and Livescope now foralmost a year. Had it mounted on the TM shaft, port side (left) for abouta month. Got the "Poleducer" with 2.5" ram mount and really likeit. I had to use the Garmin mount so it had the 8* cant angle. I never noticedthe "Ghost tree" as it is called. I have ver.2.10 for LS, haven'tupdated to 2.33 yet because of issues some are experiencing. Well I got theSummit mount for perspective view last Friday and it doesn't use the Garmin 8*cant shaft mount, so it will be 0* (no cant) in fwd./down view bydefault. Went to lake Saturday to test it. In forward view 0*no cant there it was… the “Ghost Tree”!!! First time I’ve seen it on my unit. I slid the pole up and adjusted thetransducer to be about 8* cant angle, slid it back down and the ghost tree wasgone!! I put it back to 0* (no cant angle) and the ghost tree came back so the8* cant design apparently is required regardless of where it is mounted.
In"down view" with transducer in perspective view angle (horizontal)using the 2.10 ver. software. Well it worked and the view was surprisinglygood. Fish and structure was good. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos. Had my daughter with me. but Iwill next time out. Just wanted to share.

"Alive without breath, as cold as death; never thirsty, ever drinking, all in mail never clinking."
I had heard about the ghost tree but I never had one on my unit until after installing and usingthe Summit mount Saturday. When I saw the ghost tree image it made no difference where Ipointed it was there. So it hit me that the only difference was no 8* cant withthis new mount. What is nice, the way the mount is designed you have thecapability to give it any angle you desire so I tilted it to what looked aboutright for 8* cant and lowered it back down and the ghost tree image was no longer visible. I had heard that using a perspective mountwith downview selected would work although it would be 20* x 135* turned horizontal. So I gave it a try and sure enough it does work. What’s nice is having theversatility of looking shallow or deeper in perspective view with this mount. Can’t wait for the water to clear up from the heavy rain we have had.
Makes sense as i read the tree is actually sonar bouncing back. Worse in shallow water. I went to zero cant and had it bad but could see jig better vertically. Sent from my SM-G965U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app

interested as well. garmin doesn't sell a 0 degree mount correct? those are only available after market? this makes sense as the trouble shooting support site for gamin states:
Other Settings to Try
Gain – Adjusts the sensitivity of the sonar receiver, it is a user setting adjust as needed. From the LiveScope screen press the Menu Button > Gain – Auto Gain Low will reduce the starburst the most this is a user setting so adjust as needed to provide the best image.
TVG – Time Varying Gain reduces noise. This will help suppress “clutter or noise” near the surface it will also clear up hidden object that are masked by the surface noise. From within the Sonar screen press the Menu button > Sonar Setup > TVG – select the level that is best suited to current water conditions.
ARHS – Attitude Heading and Reference System. Set to ON. With the Orientation set to Auto. From the LiveScope screen Press Menu button > Sonar Setup > Installation > Use ARHS > On. Then on the same screen press the Orientation and set to Auto if it’s not automatically set to that.
Verify that the transducer is mounted correctly so the cant angles the transducer to the side approximately 7 degrees.

Interesting that Garmin sells a 0 degree mount for a pole mount for "optimum viewing" while ice fishing when there is no trolling motor to avoid hitting with the sonar.
